Director's Biography:

Tinatin Kajrishvili

Tinatin Kajrishvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1978. She graduated with a degree in film directing from the State Theatre and Film University of Georgia in 2001. She attended the producer's workshop of the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) and made several short films before her feature film debut Brides (2014) and her second Horizon (2018) received their premier at Berlinale, and went on to be screened at multiple film festivals and won numerous accolades.

Synopsis:

On the main square of a small mining town stands a cross depicting a saint, regarded by the local miners as their protector. One day, the cross is taken down for repair and the statue of the saint suddenly vanishes. When a mysterious stranger subsequently appears among them, the residents put two and two together. Shortly after celebrating his presence, they lose hope, as an ordinary man cannot protect them from their misfortunes. Hopeless and frightened crowd crucifies the saint again, believing that he will have more power on the cross.
