Thomas Lilti is a doctor, director and screenwriter. After directing shorts including Quelques Heures En Hiver (1999), Après L’enfance (2002) and Roue Libre (2003) he made his feature debut in 2008 with Les Yeux Bandés, screened at Montreal FF. He went on to direct Hippocrates: Diary of a French Doctor (2014), which won the César for Best Supporting Actor (Reda Kateb) and received another 6 nominations, including Best Film and Best Director. His other films are Irreplaceable (2016) and The Freshman (2017). He is also the creator of the TV series Hippocrate (2018).
Benjamin is a PhD student without scholarship support. Under the pressure of his parents, and in need of money, he becomes a substitute teacher in a middle school. Without training nor experience, and facing a declining public educational system, he discovers how tough this job can be.
Hopefully, his supportive and committed colleagues will lead him to take a fresh look at the profession.
