Austėja Urbaitė was born in 1991. In 2010, she began studying film directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Her student short film entitled The Etude (2013) earned considerable attention. Her short film The Bridges (2015) received numerous nominations and awards on the film festival circuit. Remember to Blink (2022) is Austėja’s first feature film, it has been awarded for “Best Film”, “Best Director”, “Best Sound Editing” in national Silver Crane awards 2023, received a Golden Lily for “Best Film” in Go East FF in Germany as well as an international critics association award “FIPRECI” and an audience award for “Best Feature Film” in Indielisboa FF, Portugal.
The French couple adopts a brother and sister from Lithuania. They invite a Lithuanian translator Gabriele to live together for a while and help children to adapt to the new environment. But the family idyll is soon disturbed by cultural differences, contradictory upbringing methods, and rivalry for the kids’ affection.
