Born in Algeria in 1982, Yasmine Chouikh has training in the humanities, psychology, education, and art. Her career in film began while she was still a little girl, when she acted in two films directed by her father, Mohamed Chouikh. In addition to writing about cultural activities in one of the national newspapers and presenting a programme about film on Algerian television, Yasmine has written several screenplays, and directed two shorts - The Door (2006), and The Djinn (2010), and also a television series - Studio 27 (2015). Until the End of Time is her debut feature.
In the Sidi Boulekbour cemetery, it is the time of the Ziara, the pilgrimage in which the living visit their dead. The old gravedigger Ali is preparing for the days of celebration but then he meets 60-year-old Joher, who is visiting her sister’s tomb for the first time after losing her husband. She wants her final resting place to be next to her sister, so she decides to organize her own funeral, and asks Ali to help her. The gravedigger receives this unexpected request with scepticism, but he does not refuse because he does not want to drive her away. Thus begin three days of preparations in which the two get to know each other.
