Camilo Becerra (Santiago de Chile, 1981) debuted with the feature film El último sacramento (2004), followed by Perro muerto (2010), recipient of the Best Chilean Film Award at the Valdivia Festival and of Best Debut Film at Trieste Festival. In 2018 he co-directed Sleep Disorders with Sofía Paloma Gómez (Santiago de Chile, 1985), who had joined him in writing the screenplay of Perro muerto and has also directed the feature-length documentaries I Want to Die Inside a Shark (2012), shown at festivals including Visions du Réel, FIDOCS and Havana, and La rebelión interior, currently in post-production.
Inspired by true events. Ximena, a successful psychiatrist, receives an unexpected visit from her eldest daughter, Tamara, back from a long period cut off from the world as the member of a sect. A police investigation is launched while the girl takes refuge in her mother’s house as it transpires that Tamara’s newborn son disappeared within the sect in strange circumstances. Both the law and Ximena will try to find out what has become of the missing baby.
