Director, and screenwriter, who graduated from Polish National Film School and Wajda Film School, Patricia Ryczko’s feature debut I am REN had its world premiere at the 35th Warsaw Film Festival in 2019, and the polish theatrical release in 2020. Her short films have won quite a few international prizes. Ryczko is known as a published author, her first novel, a Scandinavian psychological thriller A Child Made to Order placed itself among the top-selling novels in the Mystery & Suspense category on Amazon UK & US.
Sonja, 41, is a dedicated housewife raising her 10-year-old daughter, Mia. She has kept her civil partnership with Adela, 27, hidden from everyone out of fear. One day, Sonja’s Citizen Pass suddenly stops working, stripping away all her freedoms. Unbeknownst to her, this glitch will unveil her past, a past she desperately concealed from the state to avoid persecution as a terrorist. Set in the near future, the story unfolds in a dystopian world shaped by the policies of an authoritarian Eastern Bloc government. Here, a nightmare digital dictatorship reigns, with Citizen Passes dictating access to public services and personal liberties.
