Sachin Jadhav is a director, writer and producer. He has a BSc Botany, and a master's degree in philosophy. Tendlya is his first feature length film.
Nachiket Waikar is a director, editor, and writer. He studied Film Editing from the Film and Television Institute of India. Letters from Korlai, Golden Mango, Kra-Ma-Sha, and Prism are some of his award winning films screened at various film festivals. Tendlya is his feature film debut as a director.
Tendlya is a drama set in the 1990s, a period of transformation in Indian society as it aspired to step into the 21st century. During this era, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar had become a household name, inspiring millions across the nation. Against this backdrop, two youngsters from a remote village in Maharashtra embark on a journey to chase their dreams. Gajya, a 23-year-old driver struggling to make ends meet, once dreamt of becoming a cricketer but had to abandon it due to life’s hardships. Yet, his passion for the game drives him to save for a color TV to watch Tendulkar play, a rare luxury in rural India. Meanwhile, Tendlya, a 13-year-old schoolboy, dreams of playing cricket like his idol but faces repeated failures. Their intertwined stories reflect the aspirations of countless Indians, highlighting the power of resilience, hard work, and determination in overcoming obstacles.
