Director’s Biography:

Hardik Mehta is Vadodara – based film maker who graduated in Food and Diary Technology in 2004 and then joined an advertising firm as a copywriter. It was while making his first advertising film ChalMeri Luna (2006) that he realized he had a passion for film making. He joined AJK MassCommunication Research Centre, JamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhi and completed a two yearpostgraduate course in Mass Communication. He directed Skin Deep(2014), which was part of an anthology Chaar Cutting. Amdavad Ma Famous (2015) is his first documentary.

Synopsis:

‘Amdavad Ma Famous’ is a story set against the kaleidoscopic backdrop of India’s largest kite-flying festival in Ahemdabad. Zaid undergoes a transformation- from a boy- next –door to an aggressive and a passionate kite- runner when he comes across his nemesis Mushtaq, an old security guard of the building. Zaid and his friend fly their kites there. The whimsical nature of the kite flying festival, the kind of madness that grips the whole of Ahemdabad city and Zaid’s craze for kites brings together a colourful glimpse of a very unique India.
