Director's Biography:

Kore-Eda Hirokazu

Kore-Eda Hirokazu, the Japanese writer – director is one of the contemporary masters of cinema. After debuting as a director with Maborosi (1995), he made several feature films including After Life (2001), Nobody Knows (2004), and Like Father, Like Son (2013) for which he garnered numerous awards at numerous internationally renowned film festivals. In 2018, he was recognised with directing mastery receiving Cannes Palme d′Or with Shoplifters. In the following year, he was chosen as the Asian Filmmaker of the Year by the Busan IFF. He has moved audiences across the world with his stories about various configurations of families.

Synopsis:

When her young son Minato starts to behave strangely, his mother feels that there is something wrong. Discovering that a teacher is responsible, she storms into the school demanding to know what’s going on. But as the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher and child, the truth gradually emerges.
