Born to a movie producer and a piano teacher, Denis Dercourtgot a degree in philosophy then a diploma at the Fine Arts, while studying music in parallel at the Paris Conservatory. In 1998, he found the society “Les films à un dollar” with his brother. In 2006, he directed The Page Turner, his biggest success so far, and was selected at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section. His next Tomorrow at Dawn (2009) was also selected in the same section.
In Berlin, a young migrant wants to learn how to discuss in German. The teacher he gets in touch with uses a new and peculiar method. The first topic she wants him to deal with is: "yesterday my dog was killed, today we will kill somebody". But as the lessons multiply, the student feels ever more committed.
