An Italian internationally famous actor and director, born on May 19, 1946, in Ascoli Satriano, Puglia, Italy. He studied acting at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. His debut was in the play Midsummer Night's Dream in 1969. Two years later, he started working in films with great directors. He is known for La piovra (1984-2001), Big Business (1988), and Romanzo Criminale (2005). He was nominated for and won several awards, such as the Silver Berlin Bear for Best Actor for Ernesto (1979).
In 1934, as playwright Luigi Pirandello travels to Stockholm, where he is about to receive the Nobel Prize, he begins reliving the drama and magic of the loved ones who have populated his life and inspired his art. Pirandello reminisces about the madness of his wife, his stormy relationship with his children, his controversial stance towards fascism, and his love for Marta Abba, the young actress who became his muse.
