Aruan Anartay is a director and poetic storyteller from Kazakhstan working with both fictional and documentary tissues of reality. He unveils the untold stories of the Central Asian steppes, offering a singular view of universal themes such as distance, reconnection, and ever-winning tenderness.
Darkhan, a young scientist, returns home after a seven-year absence, accompanied by his girlfriend Elena. His grandfather Sagat invites them to join him on a journey to his ancestral homeland far inland. As they embark on this transformative trip, all three must confront the challenge of acceptance and understanding, testing the bonds that connect them.
