Director, screenwriter and actor, Alessandro Bardani was born in Rome on September 16, 1978. A graduate of the "Corrado Pani" Academy, he began his career and made his directorial debut with the short film Relativity, with which he won the Alice Award "un corto per il David" at the 2007 David di Donatello Awards. In 2015 he wrote and directed the blockbuster theater play titled The Best Century of My Life. He’s currently writing a television series produced by Bim and Feltrinelli together with Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli.Based on the eponymous play, The Best Century Of My Life is his first feature film.
Because of an absurd Italian law, Giovanni – who was abandoned at birth – cannot know the identity of his biological parents before his 100th birthday. In order to attract public opinion on this issue, his only hope is to resort to the help of Gustavo, the only abandoned-at-birth centenarian alive. He’s the only person who would have the right to avail himself of this legislation, but seems utterly uninterested in doing so.
The Best Century of My Life shows the encounter between a centenarian projected into the future and a young man stuck in the past, and their shared journey to rediscover their origins.
